Our good friend Myleen sent us this pic of Poketo from her trip in the Philippines. I love that people are rockin' Poketo all over the world

"i've been meaning to send this to you, i was so psyched to see poketo in the motherland! i went to this tiny gallery/toy store in manila called "chunky far flung gallery". a really rad space with old dog eared copies of Giant Robot and a bunch of fake uglydolls (made in hong kong) and fake dehara toys... it's in a really interesting part of manila a section called cubao. the store itself is in this old, OLD school plaza called the marikina shoe expo. In the 60s and 70s it was a plaza with nothing but shoe stores! now it has a bunch of vintage thrift stores, smaller shoe boutiques and bookstores. there's another interesting gallery in this plaza called "future prospects"..."

Sonic Scenery at NHM, Los Angeles

There is a really cool exhibition called Sonic Scenery at The Natural History Museum, Los Angeles. Sound artists and musicians including Matmos, Autolux, Ozomotli, Languis and Nobody create their own soundscape for the museum and each interpret different rooms in the space. (By the way, you can see the wallets we made for Autolux, designed by Chris Pew) Matmos played a live, silent set in the animal room. Listeners had to plug into the many headphone hubs in the room to hear the performance. Minus the headphones, all you hear and see is Matmos gently playing instruments and the occasional light sounds of them plucking and pressing. But, through the headphones, it was a full soundscape of bleeps and blips and their very gentle, subtle sounds that they were making right then and there. Other live, notable sets included Languis and Poly. All of the soundscapes are podcasted via the NHM site, there are 21 tracks to stick on your ipod for a different museum experience.

I thought it was ice cream.... Spent the day silkscreening shirts for what is to be a new line of Poketo's launching around March. The bottom tee is by artist Sigrid Astrup from Sweden. There will be over a dozen designs, all by different artists. I'm super excited, the tees are hot, hot, hot!!

Two beers, beef pho, spring rolls, and shared two desserts. Dinner with Chris Bettig and Cindy was fun. You should check out Chris' work here at themountainlabel.com. He did some designs for Poketo series 03 last year and has got some tee designs with Carhartt Japan coming out this Feb.

Nathalie Roland and I had a nice cup of coffee and worked at little at the We Cafe. Such a nice little spot off the Haight with free internet and big couches.

We worked for a couple of hours on our laptops among other laptopers, before getting really hungry and going to King of Thai for some warm noodle soup and rice.
It was there that Nathalie came up with having all the Poketo crew carrying a secret ring... like a club ring. A ring that was embossed, so that when we write letters, we can dip the ring in wax and seal our conversations. I would love to have a 'letterman' style ring. Anyone out there a ring maker? Above are some sketches.
